What is Carbon Steel Pipes?

Carbon steel pipe refers to a variety of metal tubular products primarily alloyed with carbon. But the term also refers to a variety of steel tubing products. Even though many of the same manufacturing principles apply to carbon steel pipe and other similar alloy tubular goods.

The name Carbon Steel Seamless Pipes refers to the lack of a longitudinal weld seam in carbon steel pipes. It is essentially made out of a single, solid piece of steel. To produce a pipe with the desired diameter and wall thickness, a solid billet is simply heated and stretched across several mandrels. In most cases, a seamless carbon steel pipe with a diameter of fourteen inches or more is rolled from shells.

Formation of Carbon Steel Pipes

To produce Carbon Steel EFW Pipe, the pipe mill receives coils and billets. Double submerged arc weld, or spiral weld, depending on the capabilities of the pipe mill and the final product’s intended application.

In today’s steel mills, coke is either added to smelted iron ore or scrap metal is melted to produce steel. The molten metal is subjected to a contemporary variation of the Bessemer process to remove undesirable elements. Additional desirable elements are then added, and the steel is cast and cooled into whatever shape the buyers need. As was previously noted, these casts for carbon steel pipe are normally in the shape of coils or billets.
